The spot price of acetic acid on the U.S. Gulf Coast remained stable in the 2nd week of June. Market activity was muted as prices remained firm as force majeure persisted. Acetic acid exports were stable at $2,000/ton FOB USG this week, based on indications of prices at $2,000/ton FOB USG. "The AA we buy is from China, [as] the US is still very tight," explained one market participant. A market source said that the overall market demand for acetic acid is high, as the current lack of supply in the United States is partly responsible for the increase in demand levels. One source agreed, but also said the seasonality of AA would also affect current demand.
