Uses
1. It serves as a key intermediate for the synthesis of antioxidant BHT (2,6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol), rubber antioxidants, and plastic/oil antioxidants.
2. It is used in the production of phenolic resins, plasticizers, UV absorbers, dye intermediates, and pharmaceutical disinfectants.
3. It acts as a stabilizer for lubricating oils, fuel oils, rubber and plastics to inhibit oxidative aging.
