Cyclohexanone

Cyclohexanone is a colorless transparent liquid with earthy flavor, while has a  mint flavor when it contains traces of phenol. The impurity is light yellow, which develops color as impurities are generated during storage time, from water white to grayish yellow, with a strong pungent odor. The explosive pole mixed with air is the same as the open chain saturated ketone.

1. It is an important chemical raw material, serving as the main intermediate for the production of nylon, caprolactam and adipic acid. It is also an important industrial solvent.

2. It is an excellent solvent for pesticides such as organophosphorus insecticides and many similar products, used as a solvent for dyes, a viscous solvent for piston-type aviation lubricating oils, and a solvent for fats, waxes and rubbers. It is also used as a leveling agent for dyed and delustered silk, a degreasing agent for metal polishing, and for wood staining and painting.

3. Used as a high-boiling solvent in cosmetics such as nail polish.
