Pregabalin, chemically known as (S)-3-(aminomethyl)-5-methylhexanoic acid, is a white or almost white crystalline powder with no odor. As an analogue of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), it has a similar structure to gabapentin but exhibits stronger pharmacological activity. This product is a nationally controlled psychotropic drug (prescription medicine) and is mainly used as a central nervous system agent.

Uses
1. For the treatment of neuropathic pain: post-herpetic neuralgia, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, and neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury.
2. Anticonvulsant: adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults.
3. Anxiolytic: generalized anxiety disorder.
4. Others: management of chronic pain such as fibromyalgia and central neuropathic pain.
