Description

Propionaldehyde appears as a clear colorless liquid with an overpowering fruity-like odor.Propanal is an aldehyde that consists of ethane bearing a formyl substituent. The parent of the class of propanals. It is an alpha-CH2-containing aldehyde and a member of propanals.  It has a role as an Escherichia coli metabolite. Propionaldehyde is an important raw material for fine chemicals, which is used in the production of synthetic fibers, rubber accelerators and antioxidants, etc.

Uses

1. It is mainly used in the preparation of alkyd resins, rubber accelerators and antioxidants, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, propionic acid, propanol, propylamine, etc.
2. It is a permitted flavoring agent specified in GB 2760‑1996, mainly used in the preparation of apple, cherry, chocolate, onion and other flavor essences.
3. n-Propionaldehyde is an intermediate for the insecticides imidacloprid, acetamiprid and metofluthrin, as well as for the pharmaceuticals meprobamate and pyrimethamine.
4. Propionaldehyde is an important raw material for fine chemicals, and is also widely used in the production of fine chemicals for coatings, plastics, food, textiles, feed and rubber additives. It can also be used as a chain terminator for ethylene polymerization.
5. Used in the production of propanol, propionic acid and trimethylolethane, and in the manufacture of synthetic resins, rubber accelerators and antioxidants.

Safety,Security&Risk
