1. It is an intermediate for the rodenticide bromadiolone.

2. Used as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals and dyestuffs. The pesticide propargite produced from o-chlorobenzaldehyde can control mites on dry crops and fruit trees.

3. Solvent for nitrocellulose, resins, gums, etc. Extractant for certain inorganic salts.

4. Used as a chromatographic analytical standard, solvent and extractant; also used as a dewaxing agent for lubricating oils.

5. Flavoring agent. Mainly used for the preparation of rum, cheese and fruit-type flavors.

6. It is an excellent medium-boiling-point solvent. Used as a mineral processing agent, solvent for oil dewaxing, color former for color films, as well as a solvent for tetracycline, pyrethroids and DDT, adhesive, rubber separator. It can also be used as an anticoagulant and diluent for vinyl resins.
